Bactrocera dorsalis damages the fruit before ripening by laying the eggs below the skin of host fruits, larvae feeds on the ripened fruit and damage the crop heavily before harvesting. Which leads to decrease in yield. Females can lay eggs approximately 1500-3000. Due to the egg laying punctures on fruits reduces market value.
